The University of Arizona is the birthplace of tree ring research, the basis a number of modern-era science such as carbon dating.

For 70 years the tree lab was housed underneath the the football stadium on campus. A lead gift for a new building was part of the quiet phase of the unviersity’s $1.5 billion Arizona Now campaign. The Tree Lab building was dedicated in 2013.
